Green Design

My interest in green design stems from a personal commitment to the environment and to better health. The benefits to you are numerous. Following are some green practices as they apply to our design and installation process. I have included information on how they can positively impact you and your family.

Recycling of all Possible Materials
Will you re-use your cabinetry in a basement or garage? Is a neighbor interested in taking them? If these green options are not applicable, I will search for organizations who are interested in them. Whether a non-profit such as Habitat for Humanity or a for-profit center re-selling the cabinetry, they will usually come to pick them up. This practice not only generates less waste, it also saves money.

I am personally committed to taking the cardboard boxes from your new cabinetry to a transfer station where they will be recycled.

When possible I will arrange for the sink, faucet, and old appliances to be picked up by someone who will recycle the metal.

Depending upon all of the materials needing to be disposed as part of your project, the above steps may eliminate the need for a dumpster, saving you money on your project.

Lighting Design
Proper lighting impacts a person's mood, eyesight, and overall health. Many new lighting options on the market can also conserve considerable energy, saving you money.

Recycled, Healthy, or Green Products
Some products contain chemicals that outgas (release fumes into the air) and may be harmful to your family's health. Depending upon your budget and specific concerns I can help you find the appropriate products available in the marketplace. Because I am an independent designer I can gain access to more products. I am not restricted to selling you only the products displayed in a single showroom.
